I can’t remember whether I ever posted this (elsewhere) or not. But I thought it would be fun to share this little ditty I wrote a while back about why I LOVE crochet. 😎
Some crafts have come and gone
Other crafts have stayed
But now at last, I’ve found a craft
That puts them in the shade.
Throwing pots gives lots and lots
Of creative mess, both grave and funny
But you need a kiln to fire your pots
And that costs lots of money.
Oh let me sing the praises long
Of the craft that’s called crochet
The cost is low, for all you need
Is hook and yarn to play.
When I was young, a beading loom
Was given as a present
And while the beads were pretty
The finishing weren’t pleasant.
But in crochet, a single string
Goes looping round and round
Which means that when you’re finishing
There’s less there to confound.
So I moved on to simpler beads
To put them on a string
And then I knocked them over
What chaos did that bring!
When you crochet, there are no beads
To spill upon the ground
And while the yarn may tangle
At least it can be found!
Macramé is the hippy art
Of tying knots – it’s fun!
But progress takes forever, and
Mistakes can’t be undone.
Crochet is made of many loops
The path of but one string
You make mistake, you simply tug
It’s such an easy thing!
Knitting is the classic craft
If you want to stitch-n-bitch,
But woe betide if you want it wide
Or if you drop a stitch.
Crochet can drop its stitches, true,
But only one can drop
And there’s no limit to its width
You can go and never stop!
I find that when my hook and yarn
I am applying soundly
I beauty make, but that’s not all:
It relaxes me profoundly.
Some crafts have come and gone
Other crafts have stayed
But now at last, I’ve found a craft
That puts them in the shade.

Very good.

Have a wonderful day!
